David ThorpeAbout David

David has made his career as a writer and editor working in a variety of media, and runs his own media company, Cyberium (a marriage of delirium and cybernetics!)

He lives in beautiful mid-Wales but was born in Robin Hood country - Nottingham.

His career includes tv and film scriptwriting and interactive scriptwriting. And being the only person in the world (probably) to hold a degree in Dada and Surrealism!

David is the author of Hybrids - "A stunningly clever novel" - The Times - Winner of the HarperCollins-Saga Magazine 2006 Childrens Novelist competition, and a novella: Doc Chaos: the Chernobyl Effect, and has written many comics and cartoon strips such as Captain Britain, Doc Chaos, Public Servants and Managing Hell.

He has also written a lot of environmental material, non-fiction and journalism, including for the Guardian online as this is a big passion for him.

He was also a co-founder and committee member of the London Screenwriters Workshop, and co-wrote The Fastest Forward for Comic Relief, a feature film starring Jerry Hall.

Make me happy

tigersI love tigers. I love William Blake's poem Tyger Tyger Burning Bright...

But tigers are in very real danger of becoming extinct in our lifetime. If we lost the tigers - those beautiful, majestic beasts - how much poorer the world would be!

So please support groups like WWF that are fighting to preserve their habitats and keep them safe from poachers. Use the following links and give generously!

There were about 40,000 tigers in India a century ago, but decades of poaching and depletion of their natural habitat mean that there may now be only around 1,200.

pusscatThe world trade in animal parts is like that in heroin and cocaine; a single tiger skin can fetch up to $20,000. Al Qaida is known to trade in animal parts to raise funds, as it does in opium and heroin.

It's a nasty business but together we can save the tiger! Oh, and by the way, this picture is not a tiger - it's my cat. He finds his way into everything.
